O complexo industrial da Toyota em Sorocaba (SP) vai amplia em 34 mil unidades a produção do compacto Etios, que hoje é de 74 mil veículos por ano. Esse aumento, que chega a 108 mil unidades a partir de 2016, demanda o investimento de 100 milhões de reais e será voltado para o mercado nacional de vendas. Lançado em setembro de 2012, a gama Etios conta hoje com nove versões entre as carrocerias hatchback e sedã.
Segundo a Toyota, desde então, o Etios passou a ser o produto mais vendido pela marca no Brasil, sendo um dos responsáveis pelos recordes de vendas dos últimos dois anos. Em 2014, a Toyota comercializou 66 mil unidades do modelo no mercado interno e exportou outras 20 mil para Argentina, Paraguai e Uruguai.
